Will Amnesty International apologise for their retracted “anti-rights” report?

CBR UK’s response to Amnesty International

CBR UK unequivocally condemn the defamatory “anti-rights” briefing published by Amnesty International, which has since been taken down following backlash by multiple organisations. We, like many other groups included, demand a public and named apology for putting CBR UK and two of our projects Brephos and HOPE Pregnancy on this absurd list.

Our very existence is to advocate for the rights of the vulnerable - specifically babies in the womb and their mothers. To protect them and society from the injustice of abortion which intentionally kills nearly 300,000 babies annually, and bereaves and harms countless women.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International campaigns for babies to be killed by abortion throughout the whole nine months of pregnancy, a far cry from its original mission.

What is the Amnesty International “anti-rights” report and why was it taken down?

Amnesty International released a public briefing titled: “A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK”, which labelled 117 organisations as “anti-rights”. Two days later they took it down stating on the page that they temporarily removed it. However, after backlash from JK Rowling and other groups on the list, Amnesty claimed they regretted the briefing was uploaded to their website without going through adequate internal reviews. Amnesty stated:

“It’s [the report’s] use of language does not reflect the position of Amnesty International UK which is why it was promptly removed.”

Their statement continued:

“We remain committed to defending human rights, including both the rights of women and the rights of trans people.”

The report was attacking organisations under the categories of anti-abortion; conversion practices; gender critical; branches of US groups; and conservative Christian groups. Lumping all the groups together the report fear-mongers about growing spending, US influence and funding, National Lottery funding, and questions charitable status.

Women’s rights groups, gay rights groups, Christian advocacy groups and pro-life groups spoke out condemning this defamation by Amnesty International.

Actor John Cleese who was a former major fund-raiser for Amnesty International, voiced his displeasure in multiple posts on X in response to their report:

Amnesty’s online statement concludes:

“Human rights protections are strongest when they apply equally to everyone, and no community should be singled out for unfair treatment or denied their dignity and rights.”

Amnesty International has violated this value by singling out babies in the womb for unfair treatment, denying their dignity and their fundamental right to life. They are more concerned about a trans person being misgendered than they do about an innocent and vulnerable baby being tortured to death - ripped out of their mother’s womb, limb by limb, at 39 weeks of pregnancy. Tell me, who is really anti-rights?

Join us in our work to educate society on the humanity of the unborn child and the reality of abortion.
