In March 2026, The Minister for Health and Social Services in Jersey successfully introduce the most radical abortion law change the Island has ever seen. It is now legal for a mother to have an abortion on request up to 21 weeks and 6 days pregnant. The previous limit was 12 weeks. Read the BBC’s report here.
In February 2024, ahead of proposing these changes to Jersey’s abortion law, the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS)’s Centre for Reproductive Research & Communication (CRRC), having been engaged by the Government of Jersey (GoJ) at a cost of £10,790, produced a report of the “lived experiences of termination of pregnancy in Jersey”.
BPAS is the UK's main abortion provider, and a major pro-abortion campaigner. They are the only organisation the GoJ consulted.
Their report comprised two “composite narratives” formed out of just five interviews, whose original scripts have not been published.
In response, we have undertaken to produce, at no cost to the GoJ, a two-part report: Part 1 ("Hear My Story") comprises ten real-life, unredacted stories of women who have experienced legal abortion in Great Britain; Part 2 ("Scientific and Statistical Evidence") is on the documented reality of abortion harming women and of life in the womb before viability, from a scientific, medical, and legal perspective, drawing on data and studies from around the world.
Please share these briefings (links below) with all 49 States Members in Jersey using this webpage, and with healthcare professionals to call upon the States to reverse this radical legislative change.
