Tom Whitman Fundraising Marathon - Yeovil Half Marathon 2025

I last ran a half marathon in 2014, when I was younger, fitter, and not yet married. Since then, I got married to Sophie, and we have been blessed with four boys, ranging in age from 8 down to 1. In 2022, however, we experienced a miscarriage at around 10 weeks and were devastated. Being pro-life, we were determined to see our little baby, and I was amazed at the detail visible in her body at such an early stage of pregnancy.

We wanted to treasure the life of our baby, Annis, so we found a place to bury her and shed many tears in the weeks that followed. Since then, the government has introduced baby loss certificates to recognize little ones lost before 24 weeks. Yet, at the same time, countless babies are lost to abortion without any certificate to affirm the dignity of their lives, and we are told this is simply a woman's right to choose.

After losing Annis, our convictions deepened. We attended the March for Life, and I participated in a public education display with CBR. Now, I’ve decided to put my slightly older body through another half marathon to raise money for the important work that CBR does.

When I think of CBR’s work, I am constantly reminded of the words of Jesus Christ: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied" (Matthew 5:6).
